<p>O objetivo deste artigo é identificar as possíveis paredes de vidro (barreiras) encontradas pelas mulheres empreendedoras na condução dos seus negócios e suas estratégias para quebrar essas paredes. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa descritiva com 25 mulheres que empreenderam há pelo menos 5 anos. O referencial teórico explora as barreiras encontradas por mulheres empreendedoras a partir de Jonathan (2005; 2011). Além disso, trata de uma terminologia bastante usada para conceituar as barreiras na área da administração: Glass Ceiling (Steil, 1997; Mota Santos, Tanure, Carvalho Neto, 2014; Carvalho Neto, Tanure, Mota-Santos, 2014) e explora uma outra terminologia pouco retratada pela literatura: Glass Walls (Miller, Kerr, Reid, 1999). Para o tratamento dos dados foi utilizada a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da pesquisa indicaram três paredes que cercam a carreira da mulher empreendedora: a primeira ocorre a partir da família, a segunda constituída por clientes, fornecedores e funcionários e, a terceira representada pela sociedade de maneira geral, ou seja, contempla pessoas que não se relacionam diretamente com a empreendedora, como vizinhos e proprietários de outros empreendimentos. Apesar destas paredes, o reconhecimento e a independência financeira influenciam essa dinâmica de forma positiva. </p>
Resumo Este estudo constitui uma abordagem quantitativa com base na análise de um modelo hipotético sobre o serviço público e sua relação com a construção social em torno do gênero. O universo da pesquisa consiste em mulheres altamente qualificadas que trabalham no serviço público e em empresas privadas de médio e grande portes no Brasil. A amostra final foi composta por 1.464 questionários válidos; destes, 18,6% de servidoras públicas. Foram testadas hipóteses para verificar a relação de dependência entre as variáveis: rendimento da mulher em relação ao seu par amoroso e o tipo de carreira; responsabilidade da mulher pelas atividades do lar e o tipo de carreira; rendimento em relação ao seu par amoroso e responsabilidade pelas atividades do lar; tempo de cuidado das mulheres com seus filhos e o tipo de carreira; motivadores do interesse em permanecer na carreira.
RESUMOO objetivo deste trabalho é entender o papel da família na trajetória profissional das mulheres executivas brasileiras que chegaram aos primeiros escalões das grandes empresas operando no Brasil e das mulheres empreendedoras. Destaca-se a quase ausência de estudos no campo da administração no Brasil que investigam a possível relação entre o sucesso profissional e a influência da família, principalmente no caso de mulheres executivas. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa exploratória; dois estudos de caso comparativos com entrevistas semiestruturadas com 25 empreendedoras e 47 executivas (presidentes, diretoras e superintendentes) com idades de 30 a 70 anos. Adotou-se a análise de conteúdo. Enquanto as mães das executivas influenciaram no sucesso profissional devido à importância que deram aos estudos, as mães das empreendedoras influenciaram não apenas pelo enfoque nos estudos, mas também pela experiência empreendedora repassada de uma geração para outra.Palavras-chave: Importância dos estudos na trajetória profissional da mulher. ABSTRACTThis article aims to understand the role of the family in the professional lives of Brazilian female executives who have reached the top levels of management in large companies operating in Brazil, and female entrepreneurs. There are practically no studies in the field of management in Brazil that investigate the possible relationship between professional success and the influence of parents, especially among top executives. This is a qualitative, exploratory study consisting of two comparative case studies, with semi-structured interviews with 25 women entrepreneurs and forty-seven top women executives (CEOs, directors, and superintendents) aged between 30 and 70 years. For the analysis of the data, we used content analysis. We found that while the mothers of the women executives had influenced their success by stressing the importance of studying hard, the mothers of the women entrepreneurs had influenced their careers not only by enforcing to studying, but also through the entrepreneurial experience passed from one generation to the next.Keywords: Importance of education in women's professional lives. RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é verificar a percepção do tempo para os executivos brasileiros e a sua relação com o estresse. Os dados da pesquisa, que conjugou estratégia quantitativa e qualitativa, demonstram que o estresse está diretamente relacionado com o uso do tempo. Há diferença estatisticamente significativa quanto ao grau de satisfação no trabalho entre as pessoas que trabalham de 8 a 9 horas e as que trabalham 12 horas ou mais. Nesse último caso, a freqüência de sintomas de estresse é maior. O tempo dos altos executivos é abordado como algo autônomo, abstrato, independente, tal qual a concepção de tempo associada à concepção mecanicista da natureza. Não por acaso, o estresse já foi caracterizado como uma doença do tempo. Palavras-chave: executivos, estresse, tempo.
O objetivo deste artigo é identificar, a partir da perspectiva dos homens executivos, as representações sociais sobre a mulher executiva quanto à sua atuação no ambiente de trabalho. A metodologia tem abordagem qualitativa; quanto aos objetivos, é descritiva; e o método adotado foi o estudo de casos múltiplos. Foram analisadas três empresas de grande porte do Brasil. A amostra foi composta por 31 executivos com posições de alto nível estratégico. A partir da análise de dados emergiram cinco categorias: esforço e comprometimento; lealdade à empresa; disposição para assumir riscos; capacidade de tomar decisões; e capacidade de negociação. A maioria dos entrevistados acredita que as mulheres são mais comprometidas e se esforçam mais; que são menos leais à empresa; que são menos centralizadoras e possuem menor poder de decisão; que são emocionalmente frágeis e passivas; e que precisam adotar uma postura mais agressiva para negociar. Estes dados indicam uma manutenção das representações sociais tradicionais de gênero, em que são atribuídas às mulheres traços de submissão, dependência, fragilidade, emotividade e responsabilidade pelas tarefas domésticas e cuidados relativos aos filhos.
