The current study investigates the relationship between personality traits according to the big five personality factors model, academic self-efficacy and academic adaptation among Hashemite University students in light of gender and specialization. The purposive sample consisted of 546 under graduated students, 258 males and 306 females. Three scales are used: the Five Factor Model (FFM), for academic self-efficacy and for academic adaption. The results show statistically significant differences in the average of participants’ degrees attributed to efficacy and academic adaption in favor of females and scientific specializations. They also show that agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience, extroversion and neuroticism are most common among university students, with a statistically significant positive correlation between extroversion, openness to experience, academic self-efficacy and academic adaption and a negative correlation between neuroticism, conscientiousness, academic self-efficacy and academic adaption. No correlation was found between agreeableness and these two variables.

The present study aimed to identify the degree of psychological security and self-efficacy among the Syrian refugee students inside and outside the camps. The sample consisted of 600 students from Syrian refugees inside and outside the camps in the second semester of the academic year 2014-2015. Scales for psychological security and self- efficacy were implemented to answer the study questions. Results indicated low degree of psychological security for Syrian refugee students inside the camps but moderate for those outside the camps. The results also showed low degree of self-efficacy among Syrian refugee students inside and outside the camps. The results indicated also statistically significant correlation between psychological security and self- efficacy.

The study aims to identify the degree of ego depletion and future anxiety and the relationship between both of them among the university female students. Researchers relied on the descriptive correlation method and prepared an ego depletion and future anxiety scale, and implement it on the study sample that consists of (560) female students at the Princess Alia University College after ensuring the appropriateness of their Seikometric characteristics. The study results found a statistically significant positive correlation between the ego depletion and future anxiety among the study sample, and the degree of ego depletion and future anxiety came medium. Results also showed that ego depletion acts as a good predictor of the future anxiety. In light of these results the study recommended the school administrations to provide students with the study environment that challenges their capabilities and provide them with the psychological safety to deal successfully with the future anxiety.

The study aimed to identify the level of mindfulness, psychological resilience, depression, and its correlation to psychological resilience and depression of distinguished students. To achieve objectives of the study, Toronto scale for mindfulness, scale of psychological resilience, and Beck depression list were used. Findings of the study unveiled that the level of mindfulness and psychological resilience was high, while the depression level was medium. The findings also showed that there was a positive correlation with statistical function between mindfulness and psychological resilience; there was also a negative correlation with statistical function between mindfulness and depression; and a negative correlation one with statistical function at a level between psychological resilience and depression.   Received: 27 February 2021 / Accepted: 29 March 2021 / Published: 10 May 2021

The study aimed to identify the predictive ability of social anxiety in Internet addiction among university students, by relying on the relational descriptive approach. The study sample consisted of (462) male and female students from the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Hashemite University who were selected through the available random method and were assessed by the social anxiety scale and the Internet addiction scale prepared by Young (1997) which was modified by Widyanto and McMurran (2004) after confirming the appropriateness of its psychometric properties. The study results found that social anxiety level and Internet addiction level were high among the study sample and indicated a statically significant correlation at level (0.01) between the social anxiety level and the level of Internet addiction, which indicates that the higher the social anxiety level, the higher the internet addiction level and that social anxiety works as a predictor of the internet addiction. Results also indicated a nonexistence of statistically significant differences in the social anxiety level as well as the level of Internet addiction due to gender. The current study recommended the activation of students' counseling services for students within the university and society as a whole to train them on controlling and selfcontrol, which reduce the social anxiety and increase the university's interest about Internet addiction phenomenon in addition to holding awareness programs to help solve problems of this phenomenon.
