The widespread use of social networks has turned cyber violence into a serious problem. We performed a survey with 1,468 adolescents aged 13-17 years and found that almost one in four frequently observed different forms of cyber violence against women and girls. More than a third of the adolescents who witnessed the violence did nothing, and while girls gave more active responses to help the victim, both girls and boys normalized and even justified this behavior. Our findings also underline how little is known about institutional resources for victims. We also discuss the implications for awareness and prevention.
Emerging technologies are leading to a rethink informal education and giving rise to new educational models, especially at university level. This paper looks into the strategies used by female university students to learn ICT and how this influences their level of digital competence. To do this, we surveyed 368 Spanish university women aged 20 to 34, using two scales measuring their learning strategies and digital skills. The findings showed that university students used a variety of strategies to learn about ICT, with strategies based on independent and collaborative learning prevailing. Results also showed that those women who used a wider variety of strategies to learn ICT attained more advanced digital skills. These results suggest the need to incorporate these forms of learning used by women with advanced digital skills into university teaching.
AbstractIn this paper the aim is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of PISA as international assessment program. In addition, methodological characteristics of the metrical processes underlying the instruments used in the project are also analyzed: achievement tests and questionnaires context. The strengths and weaknesses of the project in various areas are identified: from design and validation of the project as international assessment program, its uses and modes of communication of results to the metric characteristics of their instruments. They propose alternatives to optimize the use of the project in general and in particular the countries involved. It is concluded that this is a project that, for methodological quality and socio-political impact is valuable, although it has different aspects that could be improved -both as program evaluation, and educational measurements-fundamentals of measurement so that he could provide information higher quality and that could guide decisions for improvement.
