“…The visualization of the DFT calculated frequencies confirmed that all the three metal ions were involved in binding to the ONN donor atoms of the ligand during complex formation ( Abd El-Halim et al, 2017 ; Ali et al, 2019 ; Indira et al, 2019 ). The presence of nitrate in both Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes were confirmed by the strong and broad band IR peaks at 1380 and 1351 cm −1 , respectively, in agreement with previously reported studies for related complexes ( Ali et al, 2019 ; Condé et al, 2022 ). Weak O-H bending vibration was observed in the range of 1437–1460 cm −1 in all the three complexes, confirming the appearance of free bending hydroxyl (O-H) groups.…”

“…This could be as a result of the Zn(II) complex’s low solubility, which impacts its ion mobility and molar conductance. A previous study suggested that the low molar conductivity of the Zn(II) complex may potentially be due to the absence of anions beyond the coordination sphere ( Condé et al, 2022 ). Furthermore, this analysis was found to be in line with the DFT optimized geometries ( vide infra ).…”

“…Additionally, long-term usage of these leishmanicidal drugs renders them less effective. The inadequate acquaintance with the mechanistic action makes it difficult to overcome these adverse properties. , Recently, several studies on metal complexes having enhanced leishmanial potential are reported . However, there is still a desire for selective complexes with sulfur-bearing moieties to be preferred because of their similarities to natural products with promising activities against parasites causing leishmaniasis .…”

“…57 Besides, in 2022, we demonstrated copper-diamine effects in L. amazonensis . 58 Both studies revealed how potent is the activity of the new hybrid molecules containing metallic ions, probably due to the ability to interfere with several important cellular targets. Some compounds are around 100 times more active than free drugs.…”
