Horizontal lines in a 4-month-old infant CASE PRESENTATIONA 4-month-old African male presented with hyperpigmented, horizontal lines on the abdomen, back, and limbs noted at 1 month of age. The infant was born healthy at full term, by vaginal delivery after a pregnancy complicated by oligohydramnios. The baby was healthy with normal development. On examination, the patient appeared well and presented with multiple hyperpigmented lines, horizontally distributed on the abdomen, back, and upper limbs following Langer lines. These were thin following the course of normal skin folds (Figure 1). There was an absence of pigment network and aggregated brown or black globules on dermoscopy examination; faint linear hyperpigmentation is seen (arrow, Figure 2). No other skin abnormality was observed.
