Template synthesis of symmetrical transition metal dithiocarbamates

Abstract: have chlorine bridged distorted-octahedral geometry. It has been observed that the dithiocarbamato moiety is symmetrically bonded in all the cases. A three stage TGA profile is observed for all the complexes leading to the formation of respective metal sulfide as the end-product. The molar conductance of 10 -3 mol L -1 solution of the complexes measured in DMSO is indicative of their non-ionic nature. “…2 The major advantage of using the small bite-angle of dithiocarbamato moiety as a stabilising chelating ligand, is its unique property to remain intact under a variety of reaction conditions. 4,5 The ability of the dithiocarbamate ligands (innocent ligand) to stabilize cobalt in its low oxidation state in conjugation with π-acid ligand, i.e. nitrosyl (non-innocent ligand) has been explored in the present study with heterocyclic carbodithioate ligands.…”

“…4 Piperidine (0.977 g; 11.5 mmol) in ethanol (15 ml) was cooled to 5 0 C. To this cooled solution carbon disulphide (0.87 g; 11.5 mmol) was added slowly with stirring when white solid separated. To this solid was added sodium hydroxide (0.46 g; 11.5 mmol) dissolved in minimum quantity of water (4 ml).…”

“…[15][16][17][18][19] In these complexes, the major advantage of using the small bite-angle of dithiocarbamate moiety as a stabilizing chelating ligand is its unique property to remain intact under a variety of reaction conditions. 20 Recently we have reported several dithiocarbamate derivatives of 2,2'-bipyridine-platinum(II)/-palladium(II) complexes. [21][22][23] These complexes have shown antitumor activity much lower than that of cisplatin against human cell tumor line, K562, in vitro.…”

“…All synthesized complexes showed thioureide band ν(C N) in 1450-1550 cm -1 range and ν(C S) band in 950-1050 cm -1 [6] and proved the presence of dithiocarbamate moeity [7][8]. However, there are no significant differences between peaks shown.…”
