“…The reason for this discrepancy may be due either to the absence of this subclass as such or to some sterical change in the IgG3 mole cules, either of which could be referable to ther the Fab activity (antibody properties) nor most of the Fc effector functions (metab olism, complement fixation, transport across the placenta) were found to be changed by the treatment [3,16].…”

“…It has also been reported that modification of ly sine by chemical means (using fluorescamine and potassium cyanate) and of tyrosine (us ing tetranitromethane) in human and rabbit IgG does not affect the reactivity of these /-globulins with protein A [17]. /?-Propiolactone is both an alkylating and acylating agent, and three amino acid residues-lysine, cystine and hystidine -are modified by the lactone [16]. Since no aromatic amino acids are involved in the reaction, /?-propiolactone must have modified a certain number of constituent amino acids and possibly hindered in this way the reactivity of neighbouring aromatic amino acids.…”

“…Fragments of pepsin or plasmin are well tolerated by agammaglobulinémie patients, but their halflives are very short [2]. /(-Propiolactonetreated GG has a longer half-life, but the treatment is suspected to induce new anti genicity [13]. S-sulfonated y-globulin (S-GG) is a new GG for intravenous use.…”
