Abstract: W170, i.e., the work rate at a heart frequency of 170 beats per minute, and maximal oxygen uptake were determined in one performance in 20 boys and 23 girls from 6 to 16 years of age on a bicycle ergometer. The results were related to normal values according to age and height. In different age and sex groups correlation coefficients between W170 and maximal oxygen uptake amounted to values between 0.36 and 0.66.
