Z-Scheme BiOCl-Au-CdS Heterostructure with Enhanced Sunlight-Driven Photocatalytic Activity in Degrading Water Dyes and Antibiotics

Abstract: Although semiconductor photocatalysis has made great progresses as a promising solution to solve the problem of environmental pollution, the highly efficient decomposition of organic pollutants driven by sunlight is still a challenge. Herein, we successfully constructed a Z-scheme photocatalyst BiOCl-Au-CdS for the first time by stepwise deposition of Au and CdS. It was found that the Au nanoparticles (NPs) were selectively anchored on the {001} facets of BiOCl nanosheets in the process of photoreduction while… Show more

“…In order to further detect the effect of active species in the photocatalytic degradation process for BC9, molecular capture compounds p-benzoquinone (p-BQ), disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA-2Na)a nd isopropyla lcohol( IPA) were added to capture CO 2 À ,h + and COH, respectively. [58][59][60] As revealed in Figure12a,I PA and EDTA-2Na had almost no effect on RhB degradation for BC9, indicating that COH, and h + are not the main actives pecies. In contrast, when BQ is introduced, the degradatione fficiency significantly decreases.…”

“…Although the absorption of the 1 wt.‐% Ag‐loaded C/CdS sample is similar to that of C/CdS, the incorporation of a small amount of Ag in the C/CdS composites facilitates absorption beyond 600 nm . The semiconductor bandgap can be obtained using the following Kubelka–Munk function [Equation (1)]: ahv=A (hv E g ) n/2 …”

“…As stability is an important factor for a photocatalyst for its practical applications, we further investigated the stability of CNQDs/CN IO‐12 by performing recycling photocatalytic degradation experiments . From Figure a, it can be seen that CNQDs/CN IO‐12 maintains effective photocatalytic degradation of phenol after five cycles.…”
