Abstract: Neuroblastoma is a common pediatric extra-cranial tumor of the sympathetic nervous system. XRCC1 is a scaffold protein that participates in DNA single-strand break repair by complexing with other proteins. XRCC1 gene polymorphisms are being increasingly explored in cancer epidemiology studies. However, the contribution of XRCC1 gene polymorphisms to neuroblastoma risk remains unclarified. Herein, we conducted a case-control study with 393 neuroblastoma patients and 812 controls to explore the association of XR… Show more

“…In addition, a total of 469 NB cases and 998 healthy controls were also included in this study [43]. Of those, 275 NB cases and 531 controls were from Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center [4446], 118 cases and 281 controls were from The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University [4749], and 76 NB cases and 186 controls were from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (Supplementary Table 2). The cases were patients diagnosed with NB, and the controls were recruited from the same hospitals.…”

“…Graphs were generated using GraphPad Prism 5 (GraphPad Software, La Jolla, CA, USA). The observed genotype frequencies in controls were calculated for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test using goodness-of-fit chi-square tests [57]. Categorical variables were assessed using χ 2 tests and displayed as frequencies (percentages).…”

“…Categorical variables, such as sex and the use of alcohol/cigarettes, were assessed with the chi-square test. [ 22 ] Continuous variables, such as age and body mass index (BMI), were evaluated with Student's t test. Genotype distributions of control patients were assessed based on Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE).…”
