Wideband ?-shaped aperture-coupled U-slot patch antenna

Abstract: The design and experimental results of a wideband Π‐shaped aperture‐coupled U‐slot patch antenna are presented. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna is about 27%, centered at 12.5 GHz. The average gain and cross polarization of the antenna are about 7 dBi and −20 dB, respectively. Both the gain and radiation patterns were measured, and were found to be stable across the passband. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 70–72, 2001.

“…Decent gain can be achieved from a phased array designed with 1K‐elements, reconfigurable array, planar array of fractal as proposed in the studies 11–14 . Tong et al 15 studied a Ku‐band antenna with a U‐shaped slot, noting its coupling properties, extensive operating frequency range, and unusual π‐shaped geometry. Latif et al 16 undertake research on the effects of using a patch antenna with an unconventional shape by incorporating a slit in the ground's surface.…”
