Abstract: The number of insect species that become invasive is growing rapidly. We do not yet understand well why some species settle in a novel environment and others do not. The studies in this special issue aim to measure life‐history traits and dispersal capacities of a range of invasive pest insects. This knowledge is crucial for predicting future colonization chances of non‐native insects as well as for risk assessment of novel biological control agents.
