Weighted Route Selection in Cluster-Based Protocol forWireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: The efficiency of wireless sensor network is highly based on the algorithm complexity of the communication protocol which must minimize the energy dissipated by the sensor nodes. In order to pursue energy consumption minimization, this paper presents Weighted Route Selection (WeRoS) in Cluster-Based method, which uses multihop communication for data forwarding from cluster-head (CH) to the base station as a unique path. WeRoS takes also into account the remaining energy of a node and its coefficient of variati… Show more

“…This model considers only as constant the values of both Rx and Tx, and as variable the Tx output power according to a distance between transmitter and receiver. This model has been widely used, for example, to perform the maximization of network lifetime by considering considering the routing and cluster-based protocols [24], [25], to tackle an energy optimization problem in routing protocol for WSN based on genetic algorithm [26] or the network lifetime maximization by considering the cross-layer optimization of correlated data gathering [27]. However, these proposed models are not validated experimentally.…”

“…In our previous work, we are interested cluster-based network (CBN) organization which is an important approach for meeting the energy-efficiency objective through energy balance [23], [24]. LEACH concept is to divide the network operation into a round time which requires two main operation: cluster heads (CHs) selection and assignment of each WSD to one cluster [22], [23].…”

“…12: Network lifetime values at round time r that depends on the network application [53]. We have considered a clustered-based network in which k = 5 cluster at every round time r can be ensured [25]. Each CH dissipates its energy for receiving data from member WSDs, aggregating the data, and transmitting the aggregated data to the Base Station (BS).…”
