Water Adsorption Characteristics and Microcalorimetric Studies of MOF-5 and MOF-199 Synthesized Using ``Green'' Sol-Gel

Abstract: In this study, types of porous metal-organic framework materials namely MOF-5 (robust framework), MOF-199 (open framework) in the non ion-exchanged condition was compared in terms of hydrophobicity-hydrophilicity of the surface. The investigations were done using microcalorimetric measurements of heat of immersions in water. MOF-5 and MOF-199 were synthesized using plant-based polymer of palm oil derived fatty alcohols (PODFA) as porous template using "green" sol-gel approach. The synthesis approach applied wa… Show more

“…6). [36][37][38] Based on the studies regarding moisture content, GO is making MOF-5 more hydrolytically stable and increasing the adsorption capability of the GO/MOF-5 composite. Due to the strong pi-pi interactions and decreased repellent hydration forces between the sheets of GO, GO exhibits strong hydrophilicity and quick water dynamics.…”

“…MOF-5 was used in this study due to its widely research in gases storage field and excellent structure properties. In addition, MOF-5 is suitable for different types of gases adsorption such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and other gases [6,26] Next, the preparation of MOF-5 was made by degassing the adsorbent overnight for 150℃. After that, the packed bed adsorbent was weighted before transferred to different port for adsorption analysis.…”

“…Numerous experiments and simulations were conducted to investigate various methods for improving CO2 storage [4][5][6][7][8][9]. Despite abundance of studies in CO2 adsorption, there is still gap in explaining the effects of temperature in CO2 adsorption in MOF-5.…”
