AimBeing front‐line healthcare professionals is associated with possible severe information anxiety during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Investigating signs of information anxiety is the first and key step of its targeted medical intervention. This study aims to explore the signs of front‐line healthcare professionals' information anxiety during the COVID‐19 pandemic.DesignThis study is qualitative research. Grounded theory was used to classify information anxiety signs of front‐line healthcare professionals.MethodsTwenty‐four front‐line healthcare professionals from a general hospital with over 5000 beds in Wuhan were recruited to participate in semi‐structured interviews. According to the frequency and frequency variation of signs appearing in interviews, the trends of signs during the virus encounter, lockdown, flattening and second wave were compared. Based on the interviews, those signs that were conceptually related to each other were extracted to construct a conceptual model.ResultsPsychological signs (emotion, worry, doubt, caution, hope), physical signs (insomnia, inattention, memory loss, appetite decreased) and behavioural signs (panic buying of goods, be at a loss, pay attention to relevant information, change habits) could be generalized from 13 subcategories of information anxiety signs. Psychological signs were the most in every period of the pandemic. Furthermore, psychological signs decreased significantly during lockdown, while behavioural and physical signs increased. Finally, severe psychological and behavioural signs were associated with physical signs.

This study aimed to examine the factors that influence the decision-making of social workers through their professional experience. The qualitative research method and case study design were employed in this study. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with a total of twenty participants and the data obtained has been descriptive analyzed. Eight key elements have been identified that have an impact on the participants’ decision-making process. The chief elements of social workers’ included: descriptions, assessment phase, previous experiences, worldviews and ideologies, education, professional experiences and practice, exchanging ideas with their colleagues, and their own institutional and non-institutional expectations. Emotions and culture also form the social worker’s professional decision. The mentioned factors are a rule rather than an exception and these factors make it difficult for the social worker to develop rational decisions. To prevent these effects, the social worker should be aware of the transition between personal and professional values and take the responsibility to deal with them.

Objetivo: Describir la experiencia de tres adolescentes con leucemia y depresión entre los 18 y 19 años y su cuidador principal frente a una intervención de enfermería para promover el bienestar emocional de los participantes, con el uso del juego terapéutico Remission-2. Diseño: Estudio cualitativo con enfoque fenomenológico basado en estudio de casos. Los estudios de caso fueron presentados teniendo en cuenta la CARE Checklist y finalmente se construyó una narrativa fenomenológica. Resultados: Emergieron once categorías las cuales se describieron a profundidad. En los tres casos los adolescentes expresaron mejoría en su dimensión emocional debido que reconocieron que la realización de este de tipo de intervenciones por parte del profesional de enfermería logra resultados favorables en el manejo de emociones, expresión de sentimientos, pero sobretodo resaltaron la importancia del acompañamiento de la enfermera durante el proceso de hospitalización. Además, se pudo identificar que el juego terapéutico es una herramienta que permite el acercamiento con los adolescentes, sin embargo, se logran mejores resultados combinando el juego terapéutico con las habilidades del profesional de enfermería para mejorar el bienestar emocional. Conclusiones: Aspectos como la expresión de sentimientos y emociones, el acompañamiento emocional, el confort, el fomentar las redes de apoyo, la escucha activa, la comunicación asertiva, la distracción, la disminución de la ansiedad, las técnicas de relajación y el apoyo al cuidador principal, sumado al juego terapéutico, lograron los resultados positivos de la intervención en la salud emocional del paciente y su cuidador.
