Vortex fluidic mediated synthesis of polysulfone

Abstract: Polysulfone (PSF) was prepared under high shear in a vortex fluidic device (VFD) operating in confined mode. This involved reacting the pre-prepared disodium salt of bisphenol A (BPA) with a 4,4′-dihalodiphenylsulfone under anhydrous conditions.

“…After grafting with CEA, the T g of PSF increased slightly to 190 °C (Figure 3b). When compared with the literature, the present research work exhibited higher T g value for PSF before and after functionalization process [31] . In the case of second grafting with CAA, the T g value of PSF was depressed to 172 °C (Figure 3c).…”

“…When compared with the literature, the present research work exhibited higher T g value for PSF before and after functionalization process. [31] In the case of second grafting with CAA, the T g value of PSF was depressed to 172 °C (Figure 3c). The random acid grafting might enhance the moisture absorption and result with decrease in T g of PSF.…”

“…It can be defined as (1) the science allowing the study of fluid behavior at a tiny scale inside micro-channels, and (2) a technology permitting the production of microminiaturized devices containing inlets, outlets, and tunnels through which a fluid flow is confined. 138 In the last two decades, innovative microfluidic technology has been the scope of extensive studies 34,139,140 and diverse applications. For example, microfluidic techniques have been proved to be very efficient in assisted reproductive technologies, 141 bacterial separation and preconcentration, 142 DNA compaction, 143 and fungus identification.…”

“…Fluid dynamic system is one of the promising alternatives for mass-production of 0D/2D nanocomposite. Thus, synthesis of nanoparticles, 22 growth of polymers, 23 and exfoliation of 2D materials 24,25 were achieved using fluid dynamic system. Among the fluid dynamic systems, Taylor–Couette flow reactor with high shear stress and mass transfer characteristics was used for the exfoliation of 2D materials such as graphite, hBN, and MoS 2 .…”
