Volumetric and Viscometric Studies of Some Metal Acetates in Aqueous Solutions at T = (288.15 to 318.15) K

Abstract: Precise density and viscosity measurements on aqueous solutions of lithium acetate, sodium acetate, potassium acetate, magnesium acetate, and calcium acetate have been carried out in the temperature range of T ) (288.15 to 318.15) K using a vibrating-tube digital densimeter and Micro-Ubbelohde type capillary viscometer, respectively. The data have been used to obtain partial molar volumes at infinite dilution, V 2 o , and viscosity B-coefficients for these salts. The effect of temperature on these thermodynami… Show more

“…A reasonably good agreement between published values of transfer volume of amino acids in aqueous metal electrolyte is observed in the literature [25]. The change in values of φ 0 v(tr) are interpreted on the basis of co-sphere overlap model given by Friedman and Krishnan [26].…”

“…Recently, we have reported volumetric, rheological, and compressibility studies on metal acetates in aqueous solutions [16] and interactions of amino acids [17] and peptides [18] with metal acetates at different temperatures. Thermodynamic studies on saccharides in organic salt solutions are missing in the literature and therefore it will also be interesting to study the hydration characteristics of saccharides in aqueous sodium acetate solutions.…”

“…Further, it helps to understand the molecular interactions in pure liquids, liquid mixtures and solutions. Literature survey shows that much work has been done in solutions of inorganic salts [15,16] , amino acids [17,18] , polymers [19][20][21] etc. However, scanty work has been done for organic compounds [22,23] .…”
