Volatile constituents of fruits ofAstrocarium vulgare Mart. andBactris gasipaes H.B.K. (Arecaceae)

Abstract: The volatile constituents of the fruits of Astrocarium vulgare Mart. and Bactris gasipaes H.B.K. were analysed by capillary GC–MS. The volatile constituents of A. vulgare were dominated by esters, of which the most abundant was ethyl hexanoate (47.5%). The major component of B. gasipaes was limonene (52.9%). © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

“…The fruits contain all essential and non-essential amino acids, with tryptophan and methionine showing the lowest concentrations . Andrade et al (1998) analyzed volatile constituents of peach palm, finding that limonene constitutes the major component (52.9 %). Texture analysis showed a firmness loss of 2.0, on average.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.
