Volatile Components from the Leaves ofHeterotheca inuloides Cass

Abstract: The volatile components of leaves from Heterothecu inuloides Cass. were investigated by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 42 compounds were identified accounting for 91.8% of the oil. a-Cubebene (22.5%), borneol (8.8%), myrcene (6.6%), caryophyllene epoxide (6.6%), bornyl acetate (6.1%), camphor (5.6%) and trans,-p-ocimene (5.0%) were the major components representing more than 60%. The oil exhibited a characteristic camphoraceous odour.

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD.
