“…6 Nevertheless, the shape, size, and irregular innate birefringence of the lobules on microscopic examination (Figure 2), irrespective of the use of Congo red, are indistinguishable from the description and illustrations of asteroid bodies provided by Barbara Streeten in the ARCHIVES 23 years ago. Moreover, an unusual variant of amyloidosis with a more lobular vitreous phenotype (in 1 eye only) was reported earlier in the ARCHIVES.…”
