Vesicular pemphigoid

Abstract

Seven patients had a chronic eruption of small vesicles that was initially considered to be atypical dermatitis herpetiformis. Histopathologic studies disclosed a subepidermal bulla that was compatible with either bullous pemphigoid or dermatitis herpetiformis. Immunofluorescence studies demonstrated deposition of IgG or C3, Or both, at the basement-membrane zone (BMZ) in six of seven patients. In four patients, circulating BMZ antibodies were detected also. We belive that these cases represent a vesicular form of bullous pemphigoid.

Polymorphic Pemphigoid

Two Cases of Atypical Bullous Disease Showing Linear IgG and IgA Deposition in the Basement Membrane Zone

“…Furthermore, on immunoblot analysis of epidermal extracts, BP patients' sera react with the 230 kD and/or the 180 kD BP antigens (9-11), while EBA patients' sera react with the 290 kD EBA antigen in dermal extracts (12). When only tense small vesicles can be seen, as seen in Patient 1, and immunological features are the same as those of BP, the case can be termed as vesicular pemphigoid (13) Our two patients showed both IgG and IgA linear deposition along the BMZ at almost the same intensity.
