Versicoamides F–H, Prenylated Indole Alkaloids from Aspergillus tennesseensis

Abstract: Three highly modified indole alkaloids, versicoamides F-H (1-3), together with seven known alkaloids (4-10) were isolated from the fungus Aspergillus tennesseensis. The structures of new compounds were determined by analysis of the NMR and MS spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations of 1 and 2 were assigned by single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments. Compounds 1 and 2 showed weak antiproliferative activity against the H460 cell line. Compounds 1-3 represent a new class of natural product hybrids wi… Show more

“…Some species of this section produce kipukasins, nucleoside derivates, and the mycotoxin, sterigmatocystin [56][57][58]. A. tennesseensis has been reported to produce various compounds such as versicoamides F-H, prenylated indole alkaloids, diorcinol L, and (R)-diorcinol B [59,60]. In Korea, there are only six species reported to belong to the section Versicolores, including A. creber, A. jensenii, A. nidulans, A. sydowii, A. tabacinus, and A. versicolor.…”

“…The organic solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to get a crude extract, which was then partitioned between MeOH and petroleum ether (PE). The MeOH fraction was evaporated to get the defatted extract (7.0 g), which was subjected to CC over ODS with a MeOH/H 2 Graphostromol G (7). Colorless oil.…”

“…Fungi are well‐known for their ability to produce a wide array of structurally diverse and biologically active secondary metabolites . In recent years, marine‐derived fungi have attracted considerable attention to natural product chemists and pharmacologist because many of their secondary metabolites are structurally novel and possess interesting biological and pharmacological properties .…”
