A rare case of carcinoma cuniculatum involving the buttock in a 56-year-old male is presented. This case is uncommon in that the tumor was largely subcutaneous, while the usual carcinoma cuniculatum is an exophytic growth. Although carcinoma cuniculatum has a wide clinical and histological spectrum, to our knowledge there has been only 1 case with similar histological features, located in a pilonidal sinus, and another case located on the buttock.

VCs are extremely rare eyelid tumors. This clinicopathological entity is a low-grade variant of squamous cell carcinoma that occurs mainly in the intraoral, genitogluteal, and plantar areas. A role of human papillomavirus (HPV) in these tumors has been recently identified. VCs characteristically show locally aggresive growth. This is the second case reported in the literature on the eyelid. VC should be considered in the differential diagnosis of eyelid tumors.

RESUMEN.El epitelioma cuniculatum se caracteriza por una lesión de crecimiento lento en la planta del pie cuyo diagnóstico suele retrasarse por la baja sospecha clínica y por su similitud con una infección. Este tumor raramente metastatiza, pero es común que produzca una invasión local a los tejidos blandos adyacentes, requiriendo una amplia resección quirúrgica o incluso una amputación en casos avanzados. Presentamos un caso de un paciente de 76 años con una lesión de 5 años de edad en la planta del pie, que originalmente fue tratada como una verruga plantar común sin mejoría, mientras que la lesión evolucionó lentamente. El paciente fue remitido a nuestro centro con un diagnóstico de osteomielitis crónica. Una biopsia excisional reveló un carcinoma escamoso queratinizante invasivo. En esta fase avanzada de la enfermedad el único tratamiento posible fue una amputación de Syme.

Abstract: A case of verrucous carcinoma occurred on the face of a patient and prompted a review of the literature on this disorder. It is difficult to make a histopathologic diagnosis in such cases.
