Abstract: RTs for correct tactual-to-visual and visual-to-visual matches were required of 20 children and 20 adults to sensory-specific and to nonsensory-specific materials in each of two experiments. Two-way analyses of variance indicated significant effects of group, modality, and their interaction. A single-factor, repeated-measures design indicated significant effects of modality only for adults. Developmental differences in the intra- and intermodal processing are suggested.
