Using the method described by Pépin (1989), the production of young hares throughout the annual cycle has been calculated by multiplying the monthly average litter size by the proportion of pregnant females in the same month and by 0.71. To explain the variation of the monthly productivity, the production of leverets has been correlated with the monthly average litter size and with the proportion of pregnant females.…”
