SUMMARYThe agricultural potential is generally assessed and managed based on a onedimensional vision of the soil profile, however, the increased appreciation of sustainable production has stimulated studies on faster and more accurate evaluation techniques and methods of the agricultural potential on detailed scales. The objective of this study was to investigate the possibility of using soil magnetic susceptibility for the identification of landscape segments on a detailed scale in the region of Jaboticabal, São Paulo State. The studied area has two slope curvatures: linear and concave, subdivided into three landscape segments: upper slope (US, concave), middle slope (MS, linear) and lower slope (LS, linear). In each of these segments, 20 points were randomly sampled from a database with 207 samples forming a regular grid installed in each landscape segment. The soil physical and chemical properties, CO 2 emissions (FCO 2 ) and magnetic susceptibility (MS) of the samples were evaluated represented by: magnetic susceptibility of air-dried fine earth (MS ADFE ), magnetic susceptibility of the total sand fraction (MS TS ) and magnetic susceptibility of the clay fraction (MS Cl ) in the 0.00 0.15 m layer. The principal component analysis showed that MS is an important property that can be used to identify landscape segments, because the correlation of this property within the first principal component was high. The hierarchical cluster analysis method identified two groups based on the variables selected by principal component analysis; of the six selected variables, three were related to magnetic susceptibility. A B S T R A C TConsidering the relevant importance of guava (Psidium guajava) in Northeastern Brazil along with the benefits of neem cake amendments on soil characteristics, this work evaluated the effects of neem cake on chemical attributes of a Regosol under irrigated guava orchard in an alluvial valley of Pernambuco semi-arid region. Evaluations were carried out in two areas (area 1 -with neem cake; area 2 -without neem cake) at three periods: before the first application of neem cake, 90 days after the first application and 90 days after the second application. A regular 8 × 6-point grid was designed in each area and the soil was sampled for total organic carbon, pH, soluble salts (Na + , K + , Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ ) and total nitrogen contents, as well as soil C-CO 2 evolution rate in soil. Geostatistical analysis pointed out the spherical model as the best fit to the studied variables, followed by the Gaussian model, with ranges from 12 to 60.5 m. Neem cake incorporation increased spatial variability and the contents of the evaluated soil chemical attributes.Variabilidade espacial de atributos químicos em Neossolo no manejo da goiabeira com nim no semiárido R E S U M O Considerando a importância do cultivo de goiabeiras (Psidium guajava) para o nordeste do Brasil e os benefícios da aplicação da torta de nim nas características do solo, avaliou-se o efeito da aplicação de torta de nim nos atributos químicos de um Neossolo Regolítico cultivado com goiabeiras irrigadas no semiárido de Pernambuco. Para as avaliações foram usadas duas áreas (área 1 -com nim; área 2 -sem nim) e três períodos, antes da aplicação do nim, 90 dias após a primeira aplicação e 90 dias após a segunda aplicação; assim, 96 amostras de solo foram coletadas em duas malhas regulares de 8 × 6 pontos amostrais e realizadas análises do teor de carbono orgânico total, pH, teores de sais solúveis (Na + , K + , Ca 2+ e Mg 2+ ), nitrogênio total e taxa de evolução C-CO 2 do solo. O modelo esférico foi o que melhor se ajustou às variáveis estudadas seguido pelo gaussiano, com alcances que variaram de 12 a 60,5 m. A incorporação da torta de nim aumentou a variabilidade espacial e a oferta dos atributos de solo estudados.

R E S U M OO solo é um dos recursos naturais de maior importância cuja heterogeneidade reflete na variabilidade de seus atributos químicos e físicos. Esta heterogeneidade é decorrente do processo de formação natural e do uso e manejo realizados pelo homem. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a variabilidade espacial dos atributos químicos e físicos do solo e elaborar seus mapas de distribuição espacial na Sub-Bacia das Posses, Extrema. Para isto foram coletadas amostras em 150 pontos nas profundidades de 0-0,20 e determinados os atributos físicos e químicos. As variáveis: Ca, Mg, K, P, pH, matéria orgânica (MO), diâmetro médio geométrico dos agregados (DMG cp ), diâmetro médio ponderado dos agregados (DMP cp ) e índice de floculação (IF). IF apresentaram estrutura de dependência espacial, o que permitiu seu mapeamento a partir de técnicas geoestatísticas. O P, DMG sp e DMP sp apresentaram estrutura com efeito pepita puro, possivelmente decorrente de uma distância insuficiente para captar dependência espacial na amostragem para esses atributos e interferências antrópicas. A variação verificada para o Ca pode ser explicada pela aplicação localizada de calcário, a qual foi realizada em algumas pequenas propriedades localizadas nas subbacias. O DMG p , DMP p , e IF avaliados foram ajustados em conformidade entre si indicando boa agregação do solo. Variability of soil attributes under pasturing and Atlantic Forest on the watershed basin scale A B S T R A C TSoil is one of the most important natural resource and its heterogeneity reflects the variability of its chemical and physical attributes. Soil heterogeneity occurs due to the natural process of formation and use by men and management. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the spatial variability of physical and chemical soil attributes and map the spatial distribution of these in Posses sub-basin, Extrema, representative of the Atlantic Forest biome present in southern Minas Gerais. For this, samples (0-0.20 m depth) were collected at 150 points, and their physical and chemical attributes were determined. Variables: Ca, Mg, K, P, pH, organic matter (MO), geometric mean diameter of aggregates (DMG cp) , weighted mean diameter of aggregates (DMP cp ) and flocculation index (IF) showed spatial dependence structure, which allowed mapping from geostatistical techniques. P, DMG sp and DMP sp presented structure with nugget effect, possibly due to an insufficient distance to capture spatial dependence in the sample for these attributes, and human interferences. The variation for Ca can be explained due to lime application, which occurred in some small properties located in the sub-basin. The DMG cp , DMP cp , and IF evaluated were adjusted in line with each other, indicating good soil aggregation. Brazil stands as the largest coffee producer in the world. However one of the factors capable of undermining the potential of this species is the poor quality of seeds. One tool that is being proposed for use in agriculture is the Geostatistics analysis to verify the existence and quantify the degree of spatial dependence of variables. The seeds were collected in a field with five years of age in an area of 0.8 ha, 50 sampling points. In the laboratory we used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four replicates of 25 seeds per point materialized with the aid of a total station. After removal of the scrolls, the seeds were treated with Captan (Orth Cide) to 0.1% for five minutes and subjected to the following determinations: moisture, germination first count of germination, root length and shoot length. Then the seeds were placed to develop in an incubator at temperature 20-30 °C for 60 days. In the results there was spatial dependence of the quality variables of physiological Catuaí. The lowest range for the variable length of shoot (CPA) and greater range for the variable fresh weight (MFPA).Key words: precision coffee, germination, geostatistical, vigor. RESUMEN
