Validation of the FASH (Functional Assessment Scale for Acute Hamstring Injuries) questionnaire for German-speaking football players

Abstract: BackgroundThe FASH (Functional Assessment Scale for Acute Hamstring Injuries) questionnaire has been recently developed as a disease-specific self-administered questionnaire for use in Greek, English, and German languages. Its psychometric qualities (validity and reliability) were tested only in Greek-speaking patients mainly representing track and field athletes. As hamstring injuries represent the most common football injury, we tested the validity and reliability of the FASH-G (G = German version) questionn… Show more

“…(B) Electromagnetic principle (fESWT): a strong, variable magnetic field is generated by passing a high electric current through a coil (4). This causes a high current in an opposed metal membrane (5), which causes an adjacent membrane (6) with surrounding liquid to be forced rapidly away. Because the adjacent membrane is highly conductive, it is forced away so rapidly that the compression of the surrounding liquid generates a shock wave within the liquid.…”

“…On the other hand, a higher score was observed than in the other items. Lohrer et al 12 also pointed to this tendency for item 3 to score higher. Impairments of gait may be different depending on the location of the injury in the hamstring muscle, as well as its severity.…”

“…Lohrer et al 12 also studied a soccer player population, although there are slight differences in the age of the subjects who had hamstring muscle injury, who were slightly younger, as well as in the competition category. This could have explained the differences in the observed Spanish version of the Functional Assessment Scale for acute hamstring injury scale scores between these versions.…”

“…Acute injuries of the hamstring muscle complex (HMC) are frequently observed in various sports disciplines both in elite and recreational sport [1–3], and are the most common injury in soccer (e.g., [4, 5]). Despite intensive research into prevention and management of acute HMC injury during the last decade, epidemiological data show no decline in injury and reinjury rates [6].…”
