UV-Vis Spectroscopic Characterization of β-Cyclodextrin-Vanillin Inclusion Complex

Abstract: <p>Cyclodextrin molecules can form inclusion complexes with various compounds of appropriate shape and size. The complexation can enhance the solubility and stability of the inclusion guest compound. The stoichiometry and stability constant of the host-guest complex are highly important for physical, chemical, biological, and environmental studies. A simple and rapid spectroscopic method investigated the inclusion of vanillin and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD). The continuous variation technique was used to estim… Show more

“…Based on the K value, 33.2 ± 3.7 M −1 , the percentage of complex in solution from an equimolar (5 mM) mixture of both partners was established (lower than 20%) [ 50 ]. Eteer et al determined for the vanillin-β-CD system the binding constant of 179 M −1 [ 51 ]. Prabu, et al investigated the behavior of the inclusion of guanosine in β-cyclodextrin in the liquid state obtaining a value of 59.79 M −1 at 303 K for the binding of the inclusion complex [ 52 ].…”
