Abstract: Care of patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) is resource intense. Several parameters infuence the cost of treatment. It has been shown, that peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation with an uncomplicated posttransplant course are less expensive than hemodialysis either in the inpatient or outpatient settings.
