“…Its individual peaks are located between those of pure Pd and pure Ag, but are relatively closer to Pd, evidencing the formation of a Pd‐rich alloy according to the Vegard's law. [ 42 ] Through the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) (Figure 1b) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) (Figure 1c,d), Pd 4 Ag is unveiled to comprise predominantly 1D nanowires (having an average diameter of 5–6 nm and a length of several hundred nanometers), together with a small fraction of nanoparticles. These nanowires are often curved, and some of them appear to be bundled or even melted together.…”

“…The galvanic replacement reaction between Ag NWs and Pt(CH 3 COO) 2 or Pd(NO) 2 was also performed and resulted in Pt NTs or Pd NTs (Figure j) with a rough morphology, respectively . Interestingly, when the length of Ag NWs was increased to 20 µm, only some segments of the NWs were converted into hollow structures (Figure k) due to the hydrolysis of Pd 2+ before the reaction completed . In addition, by introducing a reductant (such as ascorbic acid), Ag NWs were controllably modified with a small amount of Pd (5 at%), leading to excellent chemical stability against oxidation …”

“…Furthermore, the use of 1D Pt and Pd nanomaterials, alloyed or decorated with Au, has shown significant catalytic activity owing to their synergistic effects and large surface areas [18,[25][26][27][28][29][30][31]. To this end, ultrathin nanowires (NWs) have become widely used in fuel cells, offering remarkable catalytic performances [32][33][34][35][36][37].…”
