Two predictive precision medicine tools for hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract: BackgroundHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a serious threat to public health due to its poor prognosis. The current study aimed to develop and validate a prognostic nomogram to predict the overall survival of HCC patients.MethodsThe model cohort consisted of 24,991 mRNA expression data points from 348 HCC patients. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method (LASSO) Cox regression model was used to evaluate the prognostic mRNA biomarkers for the overall survival of HCC patients.ResultsUsing mul… Show more

“…MAPT plays an important role in the assembly of tubulin and stabilization of microtubules, which act as protective factors in renal and prostate cancers (Han et al, 2020 ; Sekino et al, 2020 ). However, in the current study, EEF1E1 and MAPT were found to be risk factors for prognosis in the TCGA database, as previously reported (Biterge-Sut, 2019 ; Zhang et al, 2019 ), which deserves further validation. In summary, they were first identified to represent a prognostic risk model for HCC.…”

“…Recently, PZP has been described as a novel biomarker for screening lung adenocarcinoma in T2DM patients or predicting the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. [ 56 , 57 ] However, It was noted that PZP expression is lower in tumor tissues than that in normal tissues [ 58 , 59 ] and ablation of PZP promotes breast cancer progression. [ 60 ] Thus, our protein therapy is safe without adverse effect in promoting tumor growth.…”

“…In recent years, several studies have predicted individual survival curves for cancer patients based on different algorithms [19] , [20] , [21] . Our research team developed several precise medicine predictive systems to predict individual survival curves for different cancers before clinical treatment based on genetic data [22] , [23] , [24] , [25] , [26] , [27] , [28] , [29] . Several experts proposed valuable suggestions for improving our precision medicine tools presented in our previous articles.…”
