Two fluorescent copper phosphonate complexes for sensing antibiotics, ketones and Fe3+ in water

Abstract: As the most attractive and fastest growing fluorescent sensing materials, metal-organic compounds have demonstrated great potential for the detection of various types of chemicals. Two fluorescent phosphonate complexes(2) with diverse structures were designed and synthesized for this purpose from ((2'-cyano-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl) methyl)phosphonic acid (H 2 L) and copper ions with various valence state under solvothermal conditions. The structures of 1 and 2 are determined by single X-ray crystal diffraction, a… Show more

“…[9][10][11] Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of functional materials comprised of metal ions linked together by organic ligands to form an extended and crystalline framework. [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19] MOFs have emerged as multifunctional sensing materials for applications of sensing organic small molecules. [20][21][22][23][24][25] However, most MOF sensors are based on turnoff fluorescence response to detect target molecules, which may reduce the sensing efficiency.…”

“…Fluorescent probe might be a suitable method for GSH and Cys detection due to its inherent advantages, including high selectivity and sensitivity, low limit of detection, in situ monitoring and so on [9–11] . Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of functional materials comprised of metal ions linked together by organic ligands to form an extended and crystalline framework [12–19] . MOFs have emerged as multifunctional sensing materials for applications of sensing organic small molecules [20–25] .…”

“…Therefore, a large number of selective sensors have been developed and provide convenient and rapid strategies for CN − detection [39–52] . The fluorescent chemical sensors exhibit many satisfactory characteristics such as high sensitivity and selectivity, visual detection and optical imaging [53–68] . However, some sensors still suffer from complex preparation processes, high costs, demanding detection conditions or low sensitivity [69–75] .…”
