Tunable Carrier Transfer of Polymeric Carbon Nitride with Charge-Conducting CoV2O6∙2H2O for Photocatalytic O2 Evolution

Abstract: Photocatalytic water splitting is one of the promising approaches to solving environmental problems and energy crises. However, the sluggish 4e− transfer kinetics in water oxidation half-reaction restricts the 2e− reduction efficiency in photocatalytic water splitting. Herein, cobalt vanadate-decorated polymeric carbon nitride (named CoVO/PCN) was constructed to mediate the carrier kinetic process in a photocatalytic water oxidation reaction (WOR). The photocatalysts were well-characterized by various physicoc… Show more

“…The characteristic peaks of N 1s in Figure 3 d located at 398.3 and 400.0 eV corresponded to C–N=C and N–(C) 3 groups, respectively. Both of them together with the sp 2 –C (N–C=N) make up the C 6 N 7 units [ 51 ]. The last one of N 1s at 401.1 eV arose from the uncondensed C–N–H groups of g-C 3 N 4 .…”

“…This aspect triggered the researchers to investigate low-temperature synthesis (≤373 K), which is cost-effective and suitable for large-scale production. Notably, very few reports are available pertaining to the synthesis of CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O through hydrothermal and microwave methods. ,, The CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O NSs derived from the microwave method used for the construction of a battery type supercapacitor exhibited an energy density of 19 Wh kg –1 . Hydrothermally derived g-C 3 N 4 /CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O has been used as a catalyst for the photocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction .…”

“…Notably, very few reports are available pertaining to the synthesis of CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O through hydrothermal and microwave methods. ,, The CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O NSs derived from the microwave method used for the construction of a battery type supercapacitor exhibited an energy density of 19 Wh kg –1 . Hydrothermally derived g-C 3 N 4 /CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O has been used as a catalyst for the photocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction . Collectively, the goal of CoV 2 O 6 ·2H 2 O synthesis using a simple synthesis protocol and its usage as an electrocatalyst toward the OER with hybrid electrolytic systems are relatively less investigated.…”

“…5d). A small semicircle radius was observed for PCN-SR, suggesting that surface reconstruction decreased the charge transfer resistance in PCN-SR. 36 Both results demonstrate that the introduction of cyano groups, nitrogen vacancies and lithium doped atoms could boost electron and hole separation and migration, further improving H 2 O 2 evolution under irradiation.…”
