Abstract: Pyomyositis is a primary infection of skeletal muscle not arising from contiguous infection, presumably hematogenous in origin, and often, but not invariably, associated with abscess formation. Classically, pyomyositis is an infection of the tropics, occurring in previously active and healthy young men.
