Triethylenetetramine-Grafted Magnetite Graphene Oxide-Based Surface-Imprinted Polymer for the Adsorption of Ni(II) in Food Samples

Abstract: In this work, a hydrophilic sandwich-like graphene oxide (GO) ion-imprinted polymer (IIP) was synthesized via the surface imprinting technique to develop a dispersive magnetic solid-phase extraction method for the preconcentration of Ni(II) by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). In this imprinted polymer, allyl-rich amines (monomer) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) (cross-linker) act as platforms for Ni(II) recognition. Most importantly, the influence of other transition metals as well as al… Show more

“…Various imprinting strategies such as surface imprinting [11], epitope imprinting [12] and microcontact imprinting [13] have been proposed to solve these problems frequently encountered by proteins imprinting. Among the developed methods, surface imprinting is especially attractive owing to its high binding capacity, rapid mass transfer and efficient removal of template [14]. Recently, boronate affinity controllable-oriented imprinting has been utilized for surface imprinting since it can allow easy and efficient preparation of MIP specific to glycoproteins [15].…”

“…Islam et al took advantage of this technology to develop an environmentally friendly method for the detection of Ni( ii ) in food and water samples. 92 To do so, the group generated Fe 3 O 4 graphene oxide (GO) by co-precipitating Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles on GO sheets which were then modified to introduce vinyl groups on the surface (Fe 3 O 4 @GO) (Fig. 8).…”

“…Compared to SiO 2 nanoparticles, core-shell MIPs based on Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles have gained a wider attraction due to the high convenience of separation of Fe 3 O 4 from the surrounding media by applying a simple magnet. Therefore, these magnetic MIPs are widely used in protein purification and proteomic 92 To do so, the group generated Fe 3 O 4 graphene oxide (GO) by co-precipitating Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles on GO sheets which were then modified to introduce vinyl groups on the surface (Fe 3 O 4 @GO) (Fig. 8).…”
