Abstract

Conclusion:Alcohol abuse is prone to several types of crime but the most evaluated in psychiatry consultation are cases of drunk driving and domestic violence. We can conclude that alcohol offenses are mostly men alone (single or divorced), with little insight into alcohol-related problems (ARL), making psychiatric / psychological intervention difficult to reduce drinking, making ineffective / useless use of motivational interviewing. Most respondents do not cease consumption, which entails risks for themselves and others as well as recidivism in crime.There is an unequivocal association between alcohol abuse and criminality/violence. Alcohol-related problems are an important public health problem, with negative consequences on the consumer's life, since they affect various aspects of our lives, from individual and family health problems to the labor and social level. The increased tendency to aggressive behavior of these patients causes legal problems such as public order violence, domestic violence, child abuse or even homicide, as well as driving crimes. It is imperative to articulate the judicial services with the psychiatric services, in order to better evaluate patients and treat existing comorbidities that may tend to doing crimes in order to minimize them TREATMENT OF ALCOHOL ABUSE AS A PENALITY METHOD -PATIENT PROFILES AND COMMITED CRIMESObjectives: Know and explore criminal behavior and profile of individuals with addictive alcohol pathology. Material/methods:Retrospective study of the processes of the users sent by the court to the Psychiatry department of the CHMT for treatment of addictive alcohol pathology. Collection of sociodemographic data (gender, age, marital status, employment status), psychiatric comorbidities, type of crime committed, attendance at consultations and therapeutic adherence. The behavioral pattern was compared before and after follow-up, taking into account possible recidivism of crime cases. Background/aims:Alcohol consumption may lead to increased levels of anxiety, impulsivity and consequent aggression in individuals. Because of these cognitive and behavioral changes, an individual with addictive alcohol pathology may be more vulnerable to adopting thoughts and behaviors that may risk their lives or those around them, increasing the probability of committing a crime. This study socio-demographically describes the patients refereed by court to the Psychiatry dept. of C.H.M.T for treatment of alcohol addictive pathology, also investigating the relationship between alcohol abuse and crime, pathology prevalence, therapeutic adherence and abstinence.
