Abstract: Extradural haematomas (EDH) occur in approximately 2% of all head injuries but account for a significant proportion of fatal head injuries with mortality rates ranging from 1.2 to 33%. The expeditious surgical evacuation of EDH is associated with an excellent prognosis and is considered the most cost-effective operation performed by neurosurgeons.
