Transmission Electron Microscopy and Nano‐Precipitation
Abstract: We have presented here a rapid survey of some of the stringent results obtained by TEM and associated techniques in the precipitation studies conducted during the CPR ‘Précipitation'. It clearly appears that TEM plays an irreplaceable role in the link between the understanding of the structure and chemistry of small precipitates and the modelling of the precipitation kinetics.

“…Further TEM observations on thin foils after 30 min at 650 C confirm unambiguously the homogenous and heterogeneous (i.e. on dislocations) precipitation of nitrides and carbonitrides, respectively [21]. A consistent thermodynamic modelling of the proposed scenario will be developed in the following section.…”

“…Labels and stand for states H þ 4 h at 140 8C and H þ 2 h at 240 8C, for which TEM analysis has been performed (see Figure 10). 2 See appendix Appendix D. 3 See appendix Appendix A. 4 See appendix Appendix E. As ithas been seen in Section 2, TEP is very sensitive to many microstructural evolutions that may occur during tempering.…”

Such Si 2 columns are indicated in Fig.…”
