“…The second interesting finding was that major psychosocial transitions and self-reported changes were most likely to occur during the preschool, launching, and postparental phases of the family cycle. The relative absence of rated transitions and self-reported changes during the school-age and adolescent phases is somewhat surprising because previous researchers have reported that these phases involve changes in activities and psychological adjustment (e.g., Lowenthal & Chiriboga, 1972; Reinke et al, 1985; Rollins & Feldman, 1970). The difference in findings may be due to differences in ages of subjects and methods used in the studies.…”
