Towards a Better Understanding of Redox Shuttle Generation in Lfp/Graphite and NMC811/Graphite Cells By Systematic Investigation of Different Electrolyte Additives

Abstract: Recent observations by our group show the creation of a reversible shuttle species in LFP/graphite and NMC811/graphite cells with 3:7 ethylene carbonate:dimethyl carbonate (EC:DMC) based electrolytes. This is indicated by a high reversible self-discharge of these cells in the absence of electrolyte additives.
