“…Two cases of squamous cell carcinoma were published [93,94], suggesting a possible causal relationship with the application of topical tacrolimus. Niwa et al [95] reported the development of papillomas and carcinomas in the skin of animal models after the application of topical tacrolimus.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…I share their serious concern about the use of topical calcineurin inhibitors in this dermatosis where there is an acknowledged and significant risk of squamous carcinoma. Indeed, Neill, Staughton and I wrote to the Archives of Dermatology about this in 2004 3 but our letter was not cited by Hengge et al. Instead, they dismiss this complication as ‘theoretical’ and have ignored, or were unaware of, Langeland and Engh’s case report of this ‘assumed risk of malignancy’ (their quotes) in your journal in 2005 4…”

“…Concerns regarding the carcinogenic potential of TCIs, especially in the context of anogenital disease, should be explicitly addressed to guide clinicians in making informed decisions. [7][8][9] We hope our comments contribute to a more balanced, evidence-based approach that supports optimal patient care.…”
