Tissue Engineering: Stereolithography‐Based Hydrogel Microenvironments to Examine Cellular Interactions (Adv. Funct. Mater. 19/2011)
Abstract: Unique multifunctional, biodegradable, and biocompatible hydrogels are used to encapsulate hippocampal neurons and myoblast cells using stereolithography to create complex 3D tissue structures. As reported by Rashid Bashir and coworkers, this system is able to accommodate both cell types, while a spatially patterned 3D co‐culture of these cells results in enhanced cholinergic activity of the hippocampal neurons.
