Show more

“…Pacheco and Franco [11] report that the influence of diameter on plant survival can be explained by differences in carbohydrate content and lignification of cuttings. Santos et al [9] evidenced that medium and basal cuttings of Lippia gracilis Schauer presented higher survival and growth, similar to those obtained in this study.…”

“…This is because hardwood species have a greater accumulation of reserves, which can be translocated and used in root formation [20], as observed in this study. Similar results were observed by Santos et al [9] in which semihardwood and hardwood cuttings of Lippia gracilis Schauer presented greater vegetative development than the apical ones. Another essential fact to be emphasized in the responses of cuttings production is the energy expenditure to maintain the leaves in apical cuttings, when compared to the others, that is, this causes a larger increase in the formation and accumulation of the mass of the aerial part and roots [9].…”

“…It was verified that the basal stakes evaluated in the substrate Sand + Aserrin presented the best results in length of shoots at a rate of 16.0 (cm), followed by the apical ones without leaves 15.0 (cm) and medium stakes 13.0 (cm) respectively, stakes with greater Diameters accumulate more reserves and photoassimilates in the formation of outbreaks (Santos et al, 2016). The lowest values were obtained in Aserrin as a substrate, attributing humidity as the main factor, observing that some shoots dried in all the cuttings (Table 2).…”

“…The basal and median cutting did not differ statistically for the root length, and the apical part of the branch had the lowest mean. The carbohydrate content in apical cuttings influences their rooting capacity and vegeTable metabolism, since it is a basic source of energy (LIMA et al, 2006;SANTOS et al, 2016).…”
