Abstract: In sheep, chronic arterial cannulation with Silastic has led to thrombus formation and to intimal fibroplasia of a type not previously reported. Concurrent infection resulted in septic embolization to the brains and eyes on the same side as the cannulated vessels. The histopathology is described in detail.
