Thromboelastographic evaluation of hemostatic functionin dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the hemostatic function by thromboelastography (TEG) and determine if there was an association between the changes in hemostatic parameters and serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). DCM was diagnosed by echocardiography in 19 dogs. Ten healthy dogs were selected as controls. Myocardial injury was confirmed by increased serum cTnI levels. Coagulation was assessed by TEG evaluating clot kinetics (reaction time [R] and kinetic time [K]), clot stren… Show more

“…Echocardiographic examinations were performed using conventional methods (2-D, M-mode, and color Doppler) and imaging techniques (right parasternal short -RPSA, and long axis -RPLA, left apical 4-5 chamber and subcostal views) with three different choices (2.5-5, 5-7.5, and 7.5-10 MHz) of phasedarray cardiac transducers in all dogs (Caris Plus Esaote, Italy) [76][77][78]. Left ventricular (LV) -related parameters such as interventricular septum (IVS) and post-wall (LVPW) thickness, LV internal dimension at diastole and systole (LVDd and LVDs), and E-point to septal separation (EPSS) were measured at RPLA 4 chamber view by 2D and M-mode echocardiography.…”

“…ECG was performed using 3 bipolar standard limb leads in un-sedated dogs. Cardiac rhythm analyses and measurements were performed with a standard calibration (10 mm/mV and 50 mm/sec), as reported in our previous studies (69,70,71). /body weight (kg) 0.294 (65).…”

Cardiac rhythm analyses and measurements were performed with a standard calibration (10 mm/mV and 50 mm/sec), as reported in our previous studies (76,77). LV diastolic function was evaluated by trans-mitral in ow pro le including early LV lling (E), late atrial contraction (A) and their ratio (E/A) by Pulsed-wave Doppler echo at apical 4-chamber view.…”
