“…Although there is no checklist for dragonflies from PNSC, and its assemblage was not intensively studied yet, or even considering invertebrates in general ( Fig. 1; see also Madeira et al 2008), PNSC has been visited regularly by collectors, consequently this park is the type-localWhen rare is just a matter of sampling: Unexpected dominance of clubtail dragonflies (Odonata, Gomphidae) through different collecting methods at Parque Nacional da Serra do Cipó, Minas Gerais State, Brazil ity of several dragonfly taxa including Oxyagrion machadoi Costa, 1978, Peristicta janiceae Pessacq & Costa, 2007, Zonophora campanulata machadoi St. Quentin, 1973, Rhionaeschna pauloi Machado, 1994, and Lauromacromia flaviae Machado, 2002(St. Quentin 1973Costa 1978;Pessacq & Costa 2007;Machado 1994Machado , 2002 Belle, 1973 after the most recent revision of the genus (Belle 1973). “…Unfortunately, only 29% of Brazilian territory presents data on Odonata species richness (De Marco & Vianna 2005). Some of our knowledge comes from the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, where the known fauna of Odonata is about 150 species, with the most information from the Pantanal region (Longfield 1929;Santos 1944;Souza et al 2002;Heckman 2006Heckman , 2008Souza & Costa 2006;Pessacq & Costa 2007). However, even this state lacks faunal information from many portions.…”

“…The distribution of Odonata fauna in Brazil is poorly known and only 29% of the Brazilian territory presents data on richness, concentrated mainly in the southern and southeastern regions (De Marco & Viana, 2005), with 828 recognized species (Costa, Santos, & Oldrini, 2012). For the Mato Grosso do Sul, the knowledge about the richness of Odonata is concentrated mainly in the Pantanal region (Longfield, 1929, Santos, 1944, Souza, Costa, & Santos, 1999, Souza, Costa, & Espindola, 2002, Souza & Costa 2006, Heckman, 2006, Pessacq & Costa 2007, Heckman, 2008, Dalzochio, Costa, & Uchôa, 2011a, Dalzochio, Souza, Uchôa, & Costa, 2011b. Specifically, for the Iguatemi River basin, a study with this approach was performed only at streams of the lower stretch of this basin (see Soares et al, 2015).…”
