“…Since the 1960s, the use of synthetic fibers as reinforcement in epoxy resin composites increased dramatically due to its outstanding mechanical properties (Jawaid & Khalil, 2011). Epoxy composites have been produced with a variety of reinforcements including carbon fibers (Almeida, Ornaghi, Lorandi, Bregolin, & Amico, 2017), glass fibers (Sathishkumar, Sathishkumar, & Naveen, 2014), carbon/glass hybrids (Monticeli, Ornaghi, Woorwald, & Cioffi, 2019), carbon/aramid hybrids (Pincheira, Canales, Medina, Flores, & Ferna, 2018).…”

“…The porosity gradient evidenced an increase along the laminate length due to differential pressure near injection and laminate end, driving the voids to the end of the composite length. In addition, there is a tendency toward lower porosity values being found at the inlet gate (AD 1–3), associated with resin‐rich regions, as well as an increase in porosity along the laminate length, due to the difficulties associated with impregnating plain weave fabric, considering higher tortuosity and flow resistance offers by the fabric, as evidenced in the literature . The results reported in this section were used to compare the void measurement methodologies in the next sections.…”

“…Nano-particles of Ni-Pc fulfill their objectives through the following functions: Reducing the porosity of PANI matrix by filling the empty spaces inside the coating matrix 41 . Increasing the tortuosity inside PANI matrix, leading to the hinder the movement of corrosive ions inside the PANI matrix 42 . Reducing the deformation of the PANI matrix, leading to the strong adhesion strength and good protective layer 43 .…”
