Three blistering diseases

Abstract: Dermatitis herpetiformis, pemphigus vulgaris, and bullous pemphigoid are uncommon, but not rare, blistering diseases. Accurate diagnosis is essential so that prognosis can be estimated and proper treatment begun. The systemic drugs used in treatment can cause major complications, and careful monitoring is vital. Management is best achieved with a team approach consisting of a primary care physician and a dermatologist.
