Soft tissue tumors represent a heterogeneous group of mesenchymal and neural lesions. The cutaneous presentation of these tumours is rare. With the evolution of dermatologic surgery and cutaneous oncology, dermatologists have emerged as specialists for skin cancer management. This article reviews primary cutaneous sarcomas with particular emphasis on the epidemiologic, clinical, and histological features of diagnosis, as well as treatment modalities and prognosis. The most frequent cutaneous sarcomas were reviewed, including angiosarcoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, atypical fibroxanthoma, leiomyosarcoma, liposarcoma, malignant nerve sheath tumor, and epithelioid sarcoma. Kaposi's sarcoma, due to specific characteristics, was omitted from this review. “…Erst vor kurzem wurde jedoch von einem neuen Therapieansatz berichtet, nämlich der Kombination von 13-cis Retinsäure und Interferon-alfa-2a bei einem ausbestrahlten AS-Rezidiv im Kopfbereich. In diesem beschriebenen Fall kam es zur vollständigen Rückbil-dung des AS und bis zu einer Nachbeobachtungszeit von 20 Monaten zu keinem Rezidiv [44]. Immer gilt jedoch, dass die Prognose umso besser ist, je kleiner die Ausdehnung des Tumors ursprünglich war, womit nochmals die Wichtigkeit der Früherkennung unterstrichen werden soll.…”

Background: Angiosarcoma is a malignant tumor of the blood vessels' endothelial lining. The tumor is very aggressive and tends to recur locally and metastasize to distant organs. Commonly, it is associated with different risk factors like lymphoedema, prior radiotherapy but rarely, it may also be associated with chronic venous ulceration.Main observation: We present a patient with a chronic venous ulceration who developed angiosarcoma of the ulcerated leg with good outcome after treatment.Conclusion: It is very important to follow patients with chronic wounds and recognize changes which may be life threatening. In addition to squamous cell carcinoma (Marjolin's tumor), which is most common, angiosarcoma can develop within a venous ulcer.
