Abstract: Treatment strategies developed and validated at academic centres are not widely used in clinical practice. One of the reasons is the fact that little attention is given to implementation problems in therapy. In this Practioner Report the treatment strategy for obsessive-compulsive disorders is described: the treatment rationale, how to make an exposure hierarchy, ways to handle obsessions, the involvement of parents and other family members and compliance enhancement strategies.
